INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The High School of Art and Design has the largest and most successful Career and Technical Education (CTE) High School internship program in the city! We placed over 200 students at more than 100 worksites over the past year and counting.

BENEFITS FOR STUDENTS

Use skills learned in your art major outside the classroom, get paid and earn school credit, make important connections for after graduation.

BENEFITS FOR OUR SCHOOL

We connect with our community and continue to build positive relationships with companies around the city for future students and graduates. Our internship program also allows our school to be CTE state certified.

BENEFITS FOR EMPLOYERS

Partner with our school for further promotion, as well as being a positive role model while having a valuable, skilled intern work with you. Our students are career and college ready with their academic and technical skill sets for any creative discipline or task. You can trust that our students will be a valuable member of your team participating at the college level. Looking for a particular skill set to address your worksite needs? We have a multidisciplinary approach to our school that includes the following majors: Animation, Architecture, Cartooning, Fashion, Film & Video, Graphic Design, Illustration and Photography. Our talented students are highly trained to perform in a professional setting in the creative industries.

WORK BASED LEARNING

Work-based learning (WBL) is a progressive, multi-year sequence of instructional activities, within a real-world, work-related context, that allows students to build a bridge from adolescence roles in the classroom to adult roles in professional settings.

WORK BASED LEARNING ACTIVITIES

While WBL activities can occur in any grade - at any school, it is a core strategy in Career and Technical Education (CTE). Below are examples of different types of activities that prepare your students to fully participate in work settings:

• Career Focused Field Trips (Workplace Tour)

• Guest Speaker

• Career Fair

• Job Shadowing

• Mentoring

• Research Project (with industry interaction and support)

• Interactive Project (with multiple interactions with professionals)

• Student-Run Enterprise (with industry Involvement)

• Service Learning (Community Service)

• Non-Compensated Work Experience / Internship

• Compensated Internship Connected to Curriculum (for credit or money)

WORK SKILLS EMPLOYABILITY PROFILE

The employability profile demonstrates evidence of the student's attainment of each of the commencement level CDOS standards, technical knowledge and work-related skills, work experiences, performance on industry-based assessments and work-related and academic achievements. Below are examples of the different types of work skills your students will need based on industry standards:
