NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

Membership to the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student. The National Honor Society at the High School of Art and Design is working hard to bring the accomplishments of outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers, peers, and the community. Our chapter, along with more than 15,000 chapters in schools across the nation- strives to give practical meaning to the Society’s standards of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These four ideals have been considered as the basis for membership selection.

No student is inducted simply because of a high academic average. The National Honor Society strives to recognize the total student, one who excels in all of these areas. The standards used for selection are: Students in grades 10, 11 and 12 are selected first based on scholarship~ a minimum cumulative average of 85%. After which we consider: leadership, service, and character as demonstrated by activities on the commitment form application.

Membership, however, is more than an honor. It incurs a responsibility and an obligation to demonstrate those outstanding qualities that results in selection. Membership also carries a responsibility to the chapter. If the Art and Design National Honor Society is to be effective and meaningful, each member must become involved. The faculty council challenges members to live up to their obligations by participating in all of the mandatory chapter meetings and projects.

Applications for New Members will be accepted from September 18th - September 29th
