In order to maintain an environment that is conducive to educational excellence with minimum distractions and disruptions, we are enlisting your cooperation in complying with our “Dress Code” as mandated by the Chancellor’s Regulations. According to the Student’s Bill of Rights, all students have the right to be in a safe and supportive learning environment free from discrimination, harassment and bigotry. Hence, any style of dressing that provokes inappropriate or negative behavior is discouraged at the High School of Art and Design.  

The following attire is not permitted for students:

-Tube Tops, Mesh Tops, Halter Tops

-Tank tops, under-shirts

-Spaghetti Straps

-Plunging Necklines (front or back)

-Clothing that exposes the mid-section of the body

-Mini Skirts,

-See through garments

-Transparent Leggings, transparent stockings

-Short-Shorts (NOT above the knees)

-Clothing with offensive words, pictures, or symbols.

-Clothing with lewd or lascivious images

-Pants hanging below hips, displaying undergarments

-Head Covering Hats, Du-Rags, Stocking Caps and Scarves of any size, shape or form are not to be worn in the building. Head covering for religious purposes are allowed.

All students must come to school appropriately clad. Students who fail to adhere to the dress code will be required to modify their appearance. Students who refuse to comply will remain in the SAVE room for the entire day. Students who continuously violate the dress code will be suspended as per Chancellors Citywide Standards of Discipline and Intervention Measures.
